1987 Hunter Legend 37

The 1987 Hunter 37 Legend is designed by the Hunter founder Warren Luhrs. The Legend series has a strong history in coastal cruising and racing. Developed on the back of the legendary Swan sailboats you can see many of the same characteristics. Their deep Fin Keel and Spade Rudder offer exceptional handling and strong to-weather characteristics.
Jupiter has been modified with an AC20 Electric motor which provides nearly 40 hp and 50 ft-lbs of torque instead of the factory Yanmar Diesel engine. This offers the benefit of an absolutely silent run from slip to sea and back again. It can be used in combination with sailing to provide apparent wind on light days and stability in a seaway. If range anxiety concerns you, the boat comes with 4.8kw of house batteries which back up the 18kw of new LiPo4 motor batteries, this installation should generate a range of between 40 and 50 miles.  The boat charges at shore, or bring a small generator to Catalina for longer trips.

Jupiter has been well maintained and updated, this year alone the owner has replaced the standing rigging as well as added a new 120 Genoa including foam luff battens to allow it to be reefed efficiently, a new Charger, Controller upgrade, and the before mentioned batteries. At the end of 2021, the boat was hauled, received fresh bottom paint, through-hulls, and the Keel Bolts were inspected and re-torqued. Additionally, the owner installed a 4.8kw Custom LiPo Battery system that powers the house batteries as well as offers a backup to the motor batteries. These investments and upgrades total over $25,000 of investment in the last year - year and a half.
