Considered one of Bill Lapworth's best designs, the Cal 39 has a long waterline, fin keel, spade rudder and keel stepped mast. The Cal 39 is the little sister to the famed Cal 40. The Cal 39 provides privacy for three couples. There is an aft cabin with double berth entered from portside beside the companionway. The galley is large with double sinks, stove / oven and an eight- cubic -foot icebox. Forward of the galley is the saloon with two settee berths and a folding table. The head is forward and has hot and cold pressure water. A teak door gives privacy to the forward cabin with its double berth and hanging locker. Light and ventilation is through two translucent hatches, one over the foredeck and one over the main cabin. There are four fixed and eight opening ports and a dorade over the galley. The cockpit is T- shaped and has pedestal wheel steering. Outside stowage includes an anchor locker, a lazarette and two locking seat lockers.
