The CAL 40 designed by William Lapworth remains a successful west coast racer, still entertaining an annual one design National Regatta. A Stearns tapered racing mast with internal halyards was installed in 1995 and all standing rigging replaced December 1999. The Cal 40 is light & airy, with ten ports. She sleeps 8 on full length bunks in two compartments, with underway berths for racing crews. The main cabin sleeps 6 (2 in quarterberths), has a folding table, a separate navigator's table, a hanging locker and ten drawers.
