1926 Custom Trawler

Classic Monterey style custom trawler from 1926 reportedly built in Sausalito, California of Port Orford cedar planking. "Holy Family" is no longer worked daily but she still has the capacity, maintained by her longtime and very knowledgeable owner to the highest of standards.

Large forepeak in the bow, up to the wheelhouse with Nav Station, helm and locker with engine compartment under. The enclosed aft working deck is spacious with a hatch to the 5-ton insulated fish hold, also a hatch to the lazarette/steering gear compartment. Ladder from starboard side deck up to flying bridge, with seating and upper helm.

Monterey style trawler with near plumb stem, flared bow, round bilge, full skeg/keel with strut stepped rudder, raised/rounded stern. Hull of Port Orford cedar 1 3/4" carvel plank with 1 1/2" sheer and garboard strakes. New working deck was installed in 1998 1 1/8" straight grain fir on 3 1/2" x 4" Douglas fir deck beams. Working deck is covered with 1"x3" fir grating. Forward deck is the original 1 1/8" cedar planking. Deckhouse is of plywood with tempered glass windows. Interior frames are 2" x 2" doubled sawn and bent oak on 11" centers. Original fasteners were iron, later vessel was refastened with monel, and in 1998 the aft quarter was refastened with silicon bronze screws. Rudder is 1 3/4" wood.
